Rubbish Collection Soho Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Rubbish Collection Soho has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring within our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Rubbish Collection Soho maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation in any form. This policy applies to everyone working for or on behalf of our business, including employees, agency workers, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. We expect the same high standards from all parties we work with and we will not knowingly work with any organisation that is involved in, or fails to address, modern slavery in its operations.
We are committed to ensuring that our recruitment, onboarding and employment practices are fair, transparent and compliant with all applicable labour laws. All workers are engaged on voluntary terms, receive clear information about their employment conditions, and are free to leave their employment with appropriate notice.
Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits
As a provider of waste and recycling services, we recognise that some aspects of our supply chain, including the use of subcontracted labour and outsourced services, may present a heightened risk of labour exploitation. We therefore seek to work only with suppliers and partners who share our commitment to human rights and ethical conduct.
Our supplier standards include clear expectations on the prohibition of forced labour, child labour, debt bondage and any form of coercion or abuse. Where appropriate, we require contractual commitments from suppliers confirming compliance with applicable modern slavery legislation and our internal policies.
We conduct risk-based supplier assessments and audits to verify compliance with these standards. These may include pre-qualification questionnaires, on-site visits, interviews with workers and review of employment records. Where issues are identified, we will engage with the supplier to agree corrective actions within a defined timeframe. If a supplier fails to cooperate or to make adequate improvements, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Protection for Whistleblowers
Rubbish Collection Soho encourages all employees, workers, suppliers and other stakeholders to raise concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery in any part of our business or supply chains. We provide clear internal reporting channels, including access to managers and senior leaders who are responsible for addressing ethical and compliance concerns.
Reports can be made confidentially, and we will treat all concerns seriously and investigate them promptly and fairly. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith or who assist in any investigation. Any employee found to be involved in modern slavery, or to have ignored credible concerns, will face disciplinary action which may include dismissal.
Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement
We provide appropriate training and guidance to managers and relevant staff so that they can recognise indicators of modern slavery and respond effectively to concerns. Awareness materials are used to reinforce our zero-tolerance message and to remind staff and suppliers of their responsibilities.
We are committed to continually improving our approach, refining our processes as risks evolve and expectations change. Lessons learned from audits, investigations and stakeholder feedback are used to strengthen our controls and practices.
Annual Review and Governance
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by the leadership of Rubbish Collection Soho to ensure that it remains current, effective and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. The review includes consideration of emerging risks, audit findings, reported concerns and the effectiveness of our training and supplier engagement.
Following each review, we will update our policies, procedures and this statement as appropriate, and communicate any significant changes to our employees and suppliers. By maintaining strong governance and oversight, Rubbish Collection Soho aims to play a proactive role in helping eradicate modern slavery from our industry and broader supply chains.
